Referrals from family physicians, nurse practitioners and emergency departments can be directed to a specific cardiologist or to the cardiology group.

That line is on the provincial referral form, and it is the reason this clinic exists in the shape it does. Echocardiography, exercise stress testing and ECG are performed here, in this building, and read by the cardiologist who sees your patient. A referral does not put them on a second wait list for the testing that follows it.
Either route reaches the same cardiologists. The forms below come straight to this office; the provincial form goes through Referral Management Services.
Complete the appropriate referral form below and fax it to 306-518-9080, or have the patient bring it to the clinic. Include the reason for referral, relevant history, and a current medication list.
Our team triages and books the patient, then communicates findings back to the referring provider.
Saskatoon cardiology referrals also travel on eHealth Saskatchewan’s standard form, which routes through Referral Management Services. It asks you to choose between the next available cardiologist and a named one.
Writing one of our cardiologists on the “Specific Dr.” line sends the referral here. The form carries no clinic name, so naming the physician is what directs it.
Urgent pathway
For patients who need to be seen quickly, use the Urgent Referral Form. The referring provider completes the short form and gives it to the patient; if there is concern about the patient being lost to follow-up, the form may also be faxed to the clinic. For the quickest care, the patient is encouraged to take the form and call, email, or stop by the office to arrange the appointment, letting staff know they have an urgent referral. Urgent referrals are triaged on receipt and offered the earliest available appointment.

Every study is read by a cardiologist in the same clinic that performed it, and a letter goes back to the referring provider. Typical turnaround, by test:

Routine
Referral to a specific cardiologist or to the cardiology group.
Ultrasound of the heart. 45 minutes to 1 hour, no preparation needed.
Walking stress test. Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes.
Electrical recording of the heart’s rhythm. Takes a few minutes, and patients may walk in during business hours.
Heart rhythm recording worn at home for 24 to 48 hours.
